Tis the Season...

Last weekend we had our Holiday Open House here. We had invited a lot of folks and we'd like to thank those that stopped by and placed orders too! It was a successful day and now we've got a few new orders to get ready. And of course, as we get them ready, we'll share them here with you.

This first thing that I'm going to share isn't actually for an order...it's for a very special someone's birthday. I'm giving it to her tomorrow but won't mention "who" just yet...in case she's reading, of course.

This is a small card portfolio with 4 matching cards inside. In the photo, the portfolio looks black but it really is a deep brown...to match the brown in the striped paper of the card. This was my first attempt at one of these. Its something that I've had sitting in the back of my mind and I finally pulled it out tonight. I think I'll do a few of these for folks at my daughter's school for Christmas gifts. Oh, and I need to tell you too...the design of the card is very similar to my friend Bilynda's card that we did in a recent Stamp a Stack. Thanks Bilynda, for the inspiration! Your cards always rock!!

This next little ditty is "sumpin" that Maggi showed up with on Sunday. OH MY GOODNESS...this is absolutely GORGEOUS!! The colors of this just SCREAM Autumn and Thanksgiving. And she topped it off with a nice little "family" word block. I can just picture an awesome Thanksgiving Day photo in this baby. We're holding off on putting it up on Etsy just yet...only because we have a show on Saturday and I have a sneaky suspicion that this one might just sell. If you're interested in this one...drop us a line and we'll see if we can't get Maggi to whip up another one just for you!

This is another one that Maggi did for a custom order. The colors of this came from a dance costume from last year's recital. We weren't sure about the denim up against the hot pink and black...but Maggi added her special touch and this is the end result. A definite PLUS in my book!

I think I'll hold off on sharing anything more for now. Need to save stuff for later too, ya know.

I'm working on updating a lot of the photos at Etsy...so check back often to see what we've got up our sleeves. And of course, if there's ever anything you would like to order, drop us a line at sumpinelse@gmail.com.

Until next time...

We've got spirit!!!

Yes we do...
And we want to share it with you!!

No...I was never a cheerleader. Can you tell??

We just did a custom frame for a South Orlando Braves cheerleader. And I have to say that I love how it came out. The colors are so true to the uniform...and the stripes on the frame mirror the stripes on the uniform too.

Do you have a cheerleader? A dancer? Maybe even a soccer, football or baseball player. (any sport, any color scheme...) We can create a frame to coordinate with your child's team colors. And we'll personalize it for your little star, at no additional cost.

How about a frame for the coach?? Maybe an end of the season gift? We can customize a gift for your team's coach...a one of a kind, original gift...that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Drop us a line at sumpinelse@gmail.com to find out more information about ordering yours.

And check out all that we have available now at www.sumpinelse.etsy.com too

Down in the deep blue sea...

I love a challenge...and I especially love a challenge that turns out to be pretty darn good. (If I do say so myself)

I was asked to do a frame for someone online. All we had to go with was "purple, dolphins and her name is Kim". Ideas started whirling around in my mind about how I would do this one. I decided to go with a sponged background in purple with the dolphin jumping out of the "water".

As I started this frame...I was nervous that the background would be too pink or maybe even too blue. Emily encouraged me by her "ooohs and ahhhs" and her "Can I do one of those, Mommy??". As I finished, I thought..."yep, that's purple enough." I found a sheet of Sea Life creatures in my stash and set on my way with completing my challenge.

The glitter glue came next...I knew it needed something special to make it look like water splashes. The twirls and the swirls were an afterthought. When the frame was finished, I stepped back and thought..."I really like this one." and hoped that our new customer would like it too.

And she did!!! She said it was "PERFECT". This made me sooooooo happy!

This frame was made for my new friend, Candice. I met her on Etsy and we've chatted a few times now. I look forward to forming a great friendship with her. She makes the prettiest pottery bowls and pours the yummiest scented soy candles in them. I recently purchased one from her store on Etsy...check it out...www.madhatterspottery.etsy.com

The next day, I was invited next door for lunch and took this purple dolphin frame to my neighbor's house to show her. I like to show her my recent work because she enjoys seeing it and always boosts my self esteem. (or is honest when she doesn't really like something too) She started asking questions about how much our frames are, how long do they take to make, etc. etc. Then tells me that she needs one like it for the girl that lives with her...that works at Sea World...with the whales.

Aha...another challenge!! Wasn't I lucky to have a whale on that same sheet of Sea Life creatures!!??!! The real challenge would be to get it done in less than a day. Could I do it??? I'd do my best.

Well, I did finish it...and my neighbor loved it. This one was done in blues and a little black trim. Very similar to the Sea World colors. It was delivered today and has already been given to the birthday girl too. I can't wait to hear what she thought of it!

Check them out!!!

So...if you didn't already realize it...we do custom orders! Drop us an e-mail and let us know what you need. We'll match color schemes of home decor, team colors for sports and cheerleading...even COLLEGE colors. How about wedding or baby gifts too?? Yep, we do them too. (and a whole lot more than just frames too) The possibilities are ENDLESS!

And check out the stuff that we already have up in our Etsy store too. www.sumpinelse.etsy.com

Till next time!

Thanks to Laura...and Conway Days too!

Laura was the winner of our REMEMBER frame that we put in the Silent Auction for Stephanie and Christian Nielsen. If you get a chance, pop over to her blog and check out the frame with the beautiful photo that she's chosen to display in the frame.

When I made this frame, this was exactly what I envisioned for it. A beautiful photo of a loved one(s)...a photo that would help us to "REMEMBER" the ones that we've loved and lost.

Thank you Laura, for sharing this with us.

This Saturday is the annual Conway Days Festival at Conway United Methodist Church. We'll be there from 9 till 3 with our frames and other stuff on display and for sale. So, if you're in the Orlando area, stop by and say hello.

Till next time!

They have four small children waiting for Mommy and Daddy to get home again but the road to recovery will be a long one.

Kim, at Today's Creative Blog, is featuring a silent auction on her site to benefit Stephanie and Christian.(this link has been included for you to read more about Stephanie and Christian)

Along with many other talented crafters, Sumpin Else has joined this cause and has donated the REMEMBER frame for this auction.Bidding has started on this and many other beautiful items.

Please take a moment to stop by Today's Creative Blog and bid on something to benefit Stephanie and Christian Nielson. A donation button has also been added to the right side of our blog for those that would like to make a donation without bidding on an auction item.

Another quick share...

Recently I've finished up a couple of things and wanted to get them posted here for everyone to see. The first thing is an adorable (if I say so myself) coaster shelf sitter for Katie. Complete and ready for her own pictures. (click on the photo to see the detail in this one)These letters were cut using the Wishblade and then I added a bit of Crystal Accents and a few little rhinestones too. I'm not sure if its been mentioned here before...if so, I apologize now...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Bind-It-All. That's what I used to coil these bad boys together.

The other share for today is another 4x6 photo frame. This one, with a bright tropical theme. I really like how this one fades from blue to green. And also how the flowers in the corner "pop". So bright and summery...perfect for our summer vacation photos...to help remember as the cold temps start rolling in soon. (for some of you) You can't really see the detail in this picture but the flowers all have a touch of glitter on the petals and Crystal Accents too. Again, just click on the pic and you'll get a larger pic that will allow you to see more detail.

We're still working with our talented web gal on getting the site up and running. (the Etsy shop too) We're currently caught up on all of our custom orders and are now going to start concentrating on making a few things for our upcoming Craft Fairs that we're participating in. We're going to FOUR different events (so far) between now and Thanksgiving. I'll get those dates and events up here in the next few days so, if you're in the Orlando area, you can stop buy and see us in person.

And with that...I'm off to create for just a bit and then we're off to our very first HS Football home game tonight. We went undefeated last year...lets see if we can do it again!

You know what that means? It means that we should have LOTS to share with you all in the upcoming weeks. I know that Maggi and Carmen have been working hard creating some great goodies. Stuff that I haven't even seen yet.

Ready for some new stuff??

School is back in session and we're hoping to get a lot of new stuff created and ready to share with all of you soon. There are a lot of fun and exciting things going on behind the scenes for us and we hope to share a few things with you soon. We are in the process of having our website built and you'll have the opportunity to view and purchase items online. We're also working on opening an Etsy shop too. The Etsy shop will be open VERY soon and the link will be shared here on the blog as soon as its up and running. The website will stay as www.sumpinelse.com and we'll have a link to our blog on that site. We'll be sure to keep you up to date on everything as they happen.

Tropical Storm Fay has been dumping rain on us since early yesterday and what better time to create than on a rainy day or two. (or three) This is a frame that I created last night, while waiting out the storm. I wasn't sure where I would go with my creativity so I pulled the first paper that inspired me and this is what we got. This one is yet another new favorite of mine.

I shipped a few more orders early this week. I'll share photos of some of the items that are on their way "home" now. If these belong to you, its time to start stalking the postman...they should be arriving very soon. I redid the "KYM" frame so that the photo orientation was portrait instead of landscape. I also changed the "Ace & Duce" frame so that the photo would be landscape on that one. Ace and Duce are two big dalmations and I thought they'd fit much better in a landscape opening. I'm pleased with the outcome of both of these and can't wait to hear feedback from our clients.
Remember, all of our frames and gifts can be customized to fit your needs. Contact us at sumpinelse@gmail.com to place an order. If you're looking for something and don't see anything similar, drop us an e-mail and we'll work with you and get something done to suit your needs.

We also do greeting cards, birthday gifts, birth announcements and more. So when you're looking for a little "sumpin else"...look to us.

And finally...the last share for now...a slide of the latest mini book creation. Maggi created all of the inside pages for this one and I did the cover. Our client asked for "Princess Colors" and Maggi did such a great job with coming up with a two page spread for pretty much all of the Disney Princesses.

This mini book measures 10.5in. by 6 in. but we have other sizes available to choose from.

Until next time...

More to share...

We've been busy the past few days and have a few more orders going out to their rightful owners.

This frame was a take from a sample that we had at the Dance America Nationals. The sample was done in a shimmery pink and our client requested a larger frame in black. I think the black/pink/white color combo is quickly becoming one of my favorite color combinations. I'm sure Kym's dance photo is going to shine in this frame!
How about these funky frames!! Again, a take from a sample that we had on display at Nationals. Our sample was done in BRIGHT green but these are done in a local school color, orange. (and can be done with any color...how about bright pink??? How cool would THAT look??) The zebra prints are a big trend these days and the bright colors just POP with them. So simple, but oh so fun!!

Our first college frame...this one for a PITT Panthers fan. This one set the creative wheels turning. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a few other colleges. Got a favorite? Let us know by e-mailing us at sumpinelse@gmail.com. That font looks so "schoolish", doesn't it? Like I said...the wheels are turning...so many more ideas floating in the inspiration bank with this one!!

Another different theme for us here...a doggy theme!! This frame will be on the sample table at the next event. I'm currently working on another one, just like this one...but for a horizontal photo. I like the simplicity of this one and the red/black/white is a definite color combo favorite for me.

We have a couple of mini albums that are just about finished and ready to ship. Those photos will be shared very very soon...so check back often.

Have a question? Need to place an order? Just drop us an e-mail at sumpinelse@gmail.com.

Till next time!!

Two Toadally Cute...

Just finished this frame and I think it's a cute one. This one is going to a brand spanking new set of twin boys. I wanted to use these adorable little froggies and this title kept hopping into my brain...and our client loved the idea...so here, we go.

I'm working on a couple other things right now. A PITT frame and a doggie frame too. I'll be sharing those as soon as they're finished.

Thanks for looking!

Home again and a new share...

I'm home from vacation and still trying to get back into the groove of things. Our week in Michigan was awesome and I wish the weather in Florida was just half as nice as it was up there. Better yet, how nice would it be to live up there in summer and down here in the winter? Yeah...that's it...I wanna be a snowbird! LOL Six months here and six months there. That'd be THE life!

I had a request for a frame and mini album for a little guy's 1st birthday. Our client wanted this to somewhat match the theme of Bryer's room so I had her send me a photo so that I could match colors, etc. This is the photo that she sent me (from the internet) Bryer's daddy owns a concrete company so our client wanted to include the dump trucks and concrete trucks in the book. I paper pieced a few little trucks to go in the book and to go with the theme.

THIS is the finished product...both frame and book. My friend and Stampin Up demonstrator, Bilynda, shared a super paper pack that she had in her stash and I'm so thankful for her for this. It was PERFECT for this little book.

The order was picked up this evening and our client was pleased with how well the colors matched the photo. She can't wait to give them to the birthday boy and his Mommy. Of course, I can't wait to hear their reactions!

We have a few more things that we're working on to finish up the orders from Dance America. Look for photos of those coming soon!

Till next time...

A couple new frames to share...

As promised, I'm uploading the latest frames that we've finished. These all went in the mail to their happy homes today. So, if one of these belongs to you...start stalking that postman!

First to show ya...This one was a spin off of a sample that I'd done before Nationals. Our client specifically wanted the name of her daughter's dance (Dancing Shoes) and the stars that I'd had on the sample. I don't think you can really see it, but I used a bit of glitter glue on the name of the dance...adds just a bit more sparkle to an already sparkly creation!

This frame is a surprise for Stevie. ENJOY!!

And let me say...I absolutely LOVE this iridescent paper. I loved it from the start and have liked just about every frame that I've done with it. Oh, and I found this in yellow and a really pretty blue too. I have a sample in the yellow but cannot wait to create something with that blue one!

OK...now, for the second frame that we're sharing today. This is another take on a sample that we had for Nationals. I actually shared that sample last week. The original sample was with a landscape format for the photo...but this one is for a portrait photo. I'm actually liking THIS one better than the first one that I did. Hope Gabrielle and her mom like it too! Oh...and the letters that I used for Gabrielle's name and the date...those are by Making Memories and I'm loving those too. They're the PERFECT size for what we're doing and there are just so many letters in a pack. I picked these up in just about every color they had. (Notice the pink ones on the Dancing Shoes frame??)
And finally...this fun tie-dyed looking frame. Another take on a sample that we had. the sample was a smaller frame and this gentleman specifically asked for a larger frame. Love how pretty this paper is. The colors just flow together so nicely. And...of course...there are those Making Memories letters again. Told ya I love those things! I might just need to pick up a few extra packs of these babies!!

I'm on vacation for the next week and won't be sharing anything from this end. Maybe Maggi will share a few of her gorgeous creations while I'm gone. I know she's been busy too. I especially can't wait to see the Zebra print with the orange...I bet they're awesome!

Ha...now that I have you wondering what I'm talking about...I better get up from here and finish packing before hubby decides to go without me! LOL

Till next time!

My new favorite...

Statistically, there are far more girls that dance (at our studio anyway) than boys. So, obviously, most of our orders have been for girly type stuff. Lots of pinks, purples...flowers and bling. So, when we got this order for a frame for this little guy, the wheels in my head started turning.

Max is a cutie pie to begin with. But let me tell ya...dressed up in his tuxedo type costume, on that stage, he was a REAL show stopper!

This is a photo of the costume that Max wore...(btw, this photo was taken from the Curtain Call Costumes website. I just happened to come across this photo when I was looking for a bit of inspiration...cute cute costumes there!!) I wanted to make sure this frame wasn't too girly and would go nicely with his costume photo that his Mom is planning to put in it.

I've worked on this one for a few days now actually...in stages. Adding a little bit of this and little bit of that. Trying to make it "just right". After I put the polka dots on there this afternoon, I knew that it needed a little "sumpin else". I decided to put "suspenders" on here...just like the costume. And now I think it's finished...and not only is it finished, it's become my new FAVORITE frame that I've made since starting on this fun adventure.

Anyway...here's Max's frame. I'm happy with how closely it resembles the costume. Exactly what I was shooting for! I sure hope he and his mom like it!

Now to finish Caroline's mini book.

Oh...and we have other orders finished and ready to ship this week. I'll take photos of the ones that I've done and share them tomorrow.

And remember, if you need to reach us, just drop us an e-mail at sumpinelse@gmail.com

Till next time...

We're back...

Our big set up at Nationals is over and I think we've recovered. I slept a good 14 hours on Tuesday night. I'm SOOOOOOO not a morning person so those 7am report times got the best of me!

Above is the photo that I took after we set up on Sunday morning. I'd like to thank my friend, Mark Baird, for the fantastic sign that he made for us. It added so much to our booth. I wish he could have been there to see how great it looked! Thanks again, Mark!

We'd like to thank everyone that stopped by our booth and especially to those that placed orders. We're working on getting orders completed and we hope to get everything shipped and delivered within the next few weeks. Watch here for pictures as things are finished. We'll be sure to share everything!

If you see something you like and would like to place an order, please contact us at sumpinelse@gmail.com.

Till next time...here's our next share. This is another cute coaster hanger. This one is for Christy. Love how her name looks in the bling. You can click on the images to see them larger. I've got another mini album in the works tonight and will be ready to share it tomorrow.

Busy busy busy!!!

Just a few more days till Maggi and I set up at the Dance America National Dance Competition. We've been busy working on more samples to display at our vendor table on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. (July 6, 7 and 8). So watch for LOTS of pictures in the upcoming week. I'd like to say that I'll get the sample photos up here before we head out on Sunday but I'm not sure if that will happen. With tomorrow being the 4th and a big birthday here in my house on Saturday. (don't think my son will appreciate me spending time on the computer on HIS birthday...he's a teenager...need I say more??? LOL)

Anyway...with that said...I'm off to see what other goodies I can come up with for Sunday's show.

Till next time...

-Denise

Another dance frame for Nationals

When I saw this paper yesterday, I couldn't resist...I knew that I needed to go home and do a frame with it, immediately. The soft pink flowers and the shiny silver edges just screamed dance (or even wedding) to me. The picture certainly doesn't do this one justice. You can't see how shiny the silver ribbon is or how shimmery the pink flower is. It's one of my favorites right now.

The quote reads "Dance with your heart and a Ballerina you shall be"

This frame measures 12x12 and will hold a 5x7 photo.

For more information or to place an order, please contact us at sumpinelse@gmail.com

Another custom frame...

This one a travel one...a little different theme this time but just as much fun to make. My hairdresser recently went on an Alaskan Cruise and I've done this as a gift for her. Don't pay any attention to the blurred faces in this photo. I didn't want to show those since I don't have her permission to post them on the web. I wanted to show the photo IN the frame though.

I'm also sharing a close up photo of the flowers that I used in the corner of this frame. If you look closely, they're shimmery...almost like the snow in the background of her photo. I love how these turned out and wanted to share that little detail. I'll be delivering this frame on Tuesday. Can't wait to hear her response!!

More goodies coming soon! So check back often. And be sure to scroll down past this post...in case you've missed a few samples.

Until next time...

Gearing up for Nationals!!!

Maggi and I will be setting up a vendor booth at the Dance America Nationals Dance Competition on July 6th, 7th and 8th at the Lake Buena Vista Palace in Orlando, Florida. To prepare for this big event, we'll be feverishly creating new goodies for display and to be purchased. As we prepare these fun items, we'll share a few pictures of them here, for all to see.

Here's the first thing I'll share...a frame that I did last night. I used a Paper & Punch Out tablet by Deja Views for this one...watch for other to come from this one. I love the color combo in this.

Have a special color combo you'd like to see? A certain theme? Leave us a comment and we'll see what we can come up with.

Thanks for looking!

Sumpin else we can do...

Here's a sample of Maggi's adorable circle coaster hanger. She's done so many of these cute things but I've finally remembered to open one and get a picture of it for the site. Each of the coasters are tied together with coordinating ribbons and each coaster has a letter to spell out a name.

This one spells out Tabytha...she was so excited when this was ordered. I can't wait till she sees this hanging in her room.

Another finished creation...

I've been working on Megan's mini book and I can proudly say that it is finished! I sure hope she likes it as much as I do.

Frames, Coaster albums and Mini books similar to this one and Kaitlyn's, shared in the last post, are available for purchase. If you're interested, just drop us an e-mail at denise@sumpinelse.com or maggi@sumpinelse.com and we'll get started on it. Most orders are turned around in a couple of weeks but some things may take longer, based on the number of orders that we have at the time. We will do our best to finish everything as quickly as possible and to your satisfaction.

Sumpin Else takes orders both locally and out of town. We'll be happy to ship your order and keep shipping costs as reasonable as possible.

So Exciting!!!!

We're up and running now. Sumpin Else has our very own little place on the web now and we look forward to reaching out and building our new business.

I want to give a big THANK YOU to my good friend Michele, with Lunara Solutions. Without her, our little place on the web wouldn't be what it is right now. Michele has been there for me over the past few days, taking care of just about everything you see here. She's definitely been the driving force behind getting us up and running. Thanks so much, Michele!

This is where we'll keep you up to date with the latest news. We'll share our latest creations with you and we'll let you know where you might be able to see us. (at various shows, etc.)

Before I close for now, here's the latest creation by Sumpin Else.

A mini album, measuring 6 inches by 10 1/2 inches, ready for photos to be added. This particular book was made especially for Kaitlyn.

Thanks for looking!
