Thoughts from a Weary Traveler

One of a kind handmade brooch
Over the past few months, I have been contemplating a few things. Based on Erickson’s Stages of Development this girl is entering Middle Adulthood and facing Generativity vs. Stagnation--ouch. Oh well, given the alternative not a bad stage to be entering.

From nursing school it would appear I am manifesting all of the symptoms of this stage; including but not limited to am I leading a worthy life. As I was sitting in a hotel room in San Antonio last week this thought kept creeping into my head. I found it difficult to shake since when I wasn’t at work, I was alone in the hotel room.
I thought about growing up, my relationship with my birth family, my husband and the family we have formed. I ran through my mind all of the friends and acquaintances that I have made in my life. After it was all said and done I was pleased and revitalized with the self knowledge I had acquired.
Through the strangest of places; i.e., Twitter, Facebook, Etsy, I have reconnected with friends that had been lost to me for years. It has been a blessing to find them again. So to Erickson I say generativity is so much more than how you describe it, a little pig (Ella) gave me wings to fly. Life is good and I’ve been blessed.
Until next time,
Carmen
